Bird Cage Liner et al Bailout in the near Future?
“Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freedom of speech.” - Benjamin Franklin
“Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.“ - Thomas Jefferson
This is a great day in America! Why the federal government is stepping up to the plate again! They bailed out ( read; took over) most of the failing automobile industry, and they bailed out banks. They plan to take over the health care sector, and they plan to control the energy sector. And now, (oh boy! are you ready!?) They are discussing the idea to bail out the media! ( Read: FTC explores future of journalism in Internet age , also a flashback to March, U.S. bill seeks to rescue faltering newspapers )
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) chairman, Jon Leibowitz is very worried about printed newspapers, television stations, and other traditional media outlets, in the light of their demise. People are turning more and more to the Internet for their news, instead of newspapers, and certain tv networks. The FTC chairman said, “News is a public good. We should be willing to take action if necessary to preserve the news that is vital to democracy.“
So the federal government wants to save the media with a few possible options. They are thinking about changing the way the industry is regulated, making news groups exempt from antitrust laws, changing copyright laws, and—Scary—-making them have “special” tax treatment.
Nevermind that the mainstream news media has proven to be vile, incompetent, radically left biased (great example) , and unworthy of purchase or viewer ship. They have no credibility with the American people, who see right through them as being in bed with the government. Even some honest reporters (in this case a democrat) are disgusted! I tell you this and ask you to see it for yourself- the media is already working for the State!
Even Anita Dunn, fan of killer dictator and media controller Chairman Mao, admits that the media is controlled by the government.
If the government bails out the media, the media will be state media. This is when you have lost Freedom of the Press, and thus you will have lost freedom and liberty. (Question - if the government is essentially your employer are you going to go out of your way to make sure to print stories against the evil plots and corruption the government may do? ) Pravda anyone?
Oh that reminds me! Pravda itself even warned us against an ever growing, power-hungry, control seeking, federal government, “These [ government leaders] make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?“ (read whole article here)
Does any of this sound familiar? Is America falling to the pattern, that is the history of the world?
